Visit Kielder water for a day in the forest, get out into the countryside in the Cheviots, or go a bit further to the Berwick upon Tweed or the Scottish Borders. Seahouses is a charming harbour town with some of the best fish and chips in the area.

Bamburgh Castle & Alnwick Castle are among the most famous, recognisable from The Last Kingdom and Harry Potter respectively. After visiting Bamburgh Castle the nearby harbour village of Seahouses is well worth a visit for some fish & chips and Alnwick Castle can be combined with a visit to The Alnwick Gardens with the poison garden and cherry tree orchard must-visit areas to make a day of it!

There are plenty of takeaways for all tastes and local grocers & butchers along with a Co-op for supplies for a cosy night in in front of the fire.
